First State Investments' head of emerging markets debt Helene Williamson argues EM debt valuations have moved away from other fixed income markets, leaving it looking attractive.
Williamson, who oversees First State's wide range of emerging markets debt funds, said risk premiums for the asset class are far off record lows, unlike US high yield and corporate bond markets. While the asset class remains at risk of a spike in yields of US treasuries, she tells Lawrence Gosling the fundamentals for the asset class are much improved.
