BlackRock has unveiled the Green Bond Index fund in response to growing investor demand for environmental, social and governance (ESG) fixed income products.
The UCITs vehicle will provide investors with exposure to a variety of fixed income securities issued to fund projects with direct environmental benefits. BlackRock said the fund will mirror the total return of the Bloomberg Barclays MSCI Global Green Bond index. It will be managed by Ashley Schulten, director and head of fixed income climate solutions, and Darren Wills, director and fixed income portfolio manager and has an ongoing charges figure of 0.23%.
