In a paper looking at the future of ESG investing, Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BofAML) has predicted that assets under management in ESG equity funds based in Europe will rise by €1trn by 2030.
Over the past two years, flows into ESG funds have gone up eight-fold, while the number of ESG funds available in the market now surpasses 1,000, a 40-times increase in the past decade. Europe is the leader in this space, however even in the European Union ESG funds make up just 7% of total assets.
