The three best-performing sectors trading on double-digit discounts

European equity investment trusts appear to be some of the most heavily discounted, yet best-performing areas of the closed-ended market over five years, research shows.

Using data from The AIC and FE, Investment Week has found that the three best-performing sectors on double-digit discounts have been IT Country Specialist: Europe ex UK, IT European Smaller Companies and IT European Emerging Markets. Chris Salih, a member of the research team at FundCalibre, said: "Europe is an unloved sector and that is supported by the consistent outflows seen on the open-ended side in 2019, as well as the discounts on the IT side.
