What's in a name? If that name is either 'SPAC' or 'Dave', then probably a lot.
Last month saw SPACs - special purpose acquisition companies - propel Q1 M&A deals to their highest levels since 1980, with 103 SPAC combinations announced since the start of the year. The popularity of these listed shell companies has divided opinion, with one manager saying they "represent an exciting new opportunity for the UK market", while one expert urged investors to approach with caution.
