The six top-quartile Indian funds that shot the lights out in 2021

Following a sharp reversal in fortunes for Indian equities last year, with the MSCI India index returning 27.4% in 2021, we look at the six funds in the IA India/Indian subcontinent sector to have achieved a top-quartile annual return.

1. Nomura India Equity - 45.6% Managed by Vipul Mehta since 2007, the Ireland-domiciled ICVC version of the portfolio launched in March 2017. Since then, the fund has returned 87.1%, compared to its sector average and MSCI India benchmark's respective gains of 59.7% and 70.7%. Nomura India Equity holds a concentrated portfolio of between 25 and 35 stocks, which are chosen on a bottom-up basis. The $264.9m (£194.9m) fund has a significant overweight to Indian real estate at 6.2% compared to the benchmark's 0.3% weighting, and a marked underweight to the energy sector at 7.2% compared to MS...
