On 12 July, the UK woke up to the news of yet more train strikes – the latest development in this summer’s travel disruption.

One company that has benefited from some of the disturbance but hurt by the actual train strikes is SSP Group, which will be disappointed by the recent news. The food and beverage company is behind many of the regular railway eateries, such as Upper Crust and Camden Food Co. It has been gradually recovering to pre-pandemic levels as domestic and international travel resumes, but analysts and fund managers warn it will not be a straightforward journey.  Last Thursday (14 July), SSP announced its income in the three months to the end of June was 87% of 2019 levels, up from 83% in May. ...
