Among the many designations being assigned to this year's Conference of the Parties is ‘Developing Market COP' in part due to Egypt hosting the conference and lower-income countries bearing the brunt of climate change. At COP15 in 2009, it was agreed that developed countries would provide climate finance funding of $100bn a year by 2020 to developing countries; a commitment that has not been met. Indeed, one of the four goals of COP26 was to ensure this pledge is met going forward. No small surprise that the pressure has then been on COP27 - also being touted as the ‘Implementation COP' ...
