What are the winning ingredients in the US market?

One of the most talked about subjects in the investment world is the US market – obsession with the President's Twitter account, and the realisation that far too many investors have shifted from being long-term investors in quality underlying fundamentals to a new world of chasing the short-term noise.

While I fully accept the wisdom of being aware of one's immediate environment, nevertheless, putting too much emphasis on the short term simply does not make sense. When analysing investment returns, I have always observed that short-term performance is dominated by noise and long-term results by fundamentals. Will US equity bull market continue? Noise tends to be highly unpredictable, fundamentals proving rather more reliable over time, with the odds most definitely on their side, provided we stick to them.
