Having constructed private client portfolios investing in alternatives since arriving at Cazenove five years ago, Mark Harries and co-manager Simon Wood revamped the firm's Universal Balanced fund last year to incorporate such assets. Basing the re-named Multi-Manager Diversity portfolio on principals that are applied in the hedge fund world, the managers seek to generate an absolute return by investing equally in equities, bonds and alternatives.
