One of the most positive developments this year has been the improvement in developed world economies. The US had already begun to show signs of recovery last year, but this has been followed this year by the UK and more recently Europe. In the UK, the recovery is visible in many areas – employment, consumer confidence, manufacturing, exports, and the housing market. With UK GDP still below 2007 levels, there seems to be clearly substantial scope for the recovery to continue from here. The UK will have a general election in 2015, and at the moment, the opinion polls do not look great ...
