After a year or so of relatively quiet markets, October's sharp sell-off is likely to herald the return of more volatile conditions. This will provide further opportunities to buy into strong companies at attractive valuations. Concern about whether unconventional monetary policy will succeed in offsetting deflationary forces was one factor behind October's market falls.
