Emerging markets and the funds that invest in them have been out of favour with investors for some time. The biggest problem affecting the asset class has been China's slowing economy and the ham-fisted efforts that its government has made to address the problem. As China's growth slowed, the trade between it and other emerging markets was impacted and commodity prices fell.
