Brewin Dolphin and Quilter Cheviot have emerged as the most popular discretionary fund managers, following a DFM service review conducted by Defaqto.

The inaugural report from the research and ratings firm asked 272 financial advisers between December 2015 and January 2016 about their DFM usage and service requirements. Its results show over 39 different DFMs were used by advisers during 2015, the most common being Brewin Dolphin and Quilter Cheviot, with each used by over a quarter of advisers. Rounding off the top five positions were Brooks Macdonald Asset Management, Investec Wealth & Investment and Octopus Investments.
