Fund buyers have unveiled their top investment ideas for 2017, flagging up concerns about investors' euphoric expectations for the US, while highlighting opportunities in Japanese equities, small caps, value funds and inflation-protected products.

The New Year is set to herald further volatility in markets as investors digest the impact of the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 45th US President, upcoming European elections and the triggering of Britain's exit from the European Union.
