As is now well known, the pan-European adoption of PRIIPs regulation was severely derailed in 2016, with the mutual fund and insurance industries gathering to vocalise major objections. The final regulatory technical standard (RTS) was published in April 2016, but in the view of many seasoned observers it contained omissions, unclear sections and inconsistencies.  In September, the European Parliament overwhelmingly rejected the RTS.
