The majority of investors are placing more importance on sustainable investments, with three-quarters of respondents to Schroders' Global Investor Study 2018 saying this area has become more important to them in the past five years.
These figures were led by the younger demographic, with 83% of 18 to 44-year-olds citing sustainable investments as increasingly important compared to 66% of those aged 45 plus. Conducted in April, the independent online survey canvassed 22,000 investors - those who plan to invest the equivalent of at least €10,000 in the next 12 months and have actively invested in the past ten years - from 30 countries worldwide, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK and the US.
