Think tank New Financial has collaborated with the Diversity Project to create a report analysing the hurdles to diversity in portfolio management, with the results finding 18 barriers to entry for women pursuing fund management careers.
In Diversity in Portfolio Management, authors Olivia Seddon-Daines and Yasmine Chinwala looked to understand the diversity challenge facing the asset management industry, the initiatives firms are currently embracing and what still needs to be done. They wrote: "There is broad consensus that diverse voices enhance investment performance by increasing diversity of thought, which improves decision making and investment idea generation while guarding against groupthink.
