Of course, last week's Queen's Speech was an electioneering one and you cannot blame old Gordon for having a go. It is always better to get HRH to deliver your ideas in person when you have such dodgy handwriting and spelling!

The LibDems are right to point out none of it will get onto the statute books because it takes on average over 200 days for that to happen to any new piece of legislation, and there are less than 200 Parliamentary days until the election. Do not forget that politicians do even less work than students and get bigger handouts, so they are not really in a hurry for an election. The Conservatives are right to point out most of what Brown is proposing should not really require a new law when common sense should prevail in most cases.
