Asian and emerging markets have been a key driver of performance for the Threadneedle Global Equity Income fund since its 2007 launch, as the Western dividend culture spreads into the developing world.
Manager Stephen Thornber said the fund has a truly global remit that allows him to go into any market in search of high-quality companies paying a sustainable dividend. “The income culture, which was really created in the UK, has spread first to Europe and now more globally so there is an attractive pool of companies paying high incomes, and that is what the fund seeks to exploit,” he said.
