Exposure to stocks in the consumer discretionary and technology space has propelled the Melchior North American Opportunities fund to the top of the sector over the past year.
After a difficult 2008, the fund manager’s overweight positions in stocks such as Netflix and Crocs have made the fund first in its sector over three months, second over a year and top quartile over three years. Richard Jones, head of sales and partner at Dalton Strategic Partnership (DSP), said: “When you look at the performance of the S&P 1500 for 2010, the best three performing stocks were Netflix, Crocs and Riverbed Technology.
