Investors are using the growing band of global equity income funds to latch onto the global growth story and diversify away from the UK, writes Paul Burgin.

Retail investor appetite for equity funds has been as volatile as markets themselves. January sales slumped two-thirds before making a modest recovery. Nevertheless, equities remain a favourite purchase, beating other broad asset classes such as bonds, money market, balanced and property. Last year, retail buyers were as keen on equities as institutional investors were. This year, their appetite is stronger although far from settled.
