The growth story of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) caused significant waves among managers in the run up to Christmas. Cited as "dynamic" and "exciting", economies such as Egypt and Saudi Arabia were expected to grow between 4%-6% this year, while Qatar was forecasting 10% growth. Then the Arab Spring occurred. Led by Tunisia's revolution in January, citizens of neighbouring countries soon followed suit.
