The revenge of the stock market was swift and brutal on European investors at the beginning of the year. 2010 saw the benchmark ranked 70th percentile however it has snapped back sharply this year and to the end of June is now ranked 12th percentile. Despite all the difficulties of 2010 there were considerable opportunities for fund managers to produce strong returns if they avoided those countries with a high proportion of financials in their indices.
