The focus of investors so far in 2011 has been on global macroeconomic developments. In the last quarter we have seen a solid earnings season largely overshadowed by the debt ceiling debate in the United States and the continuing debt crisis in Europe. To some extent, it is appropriate that focus remains on these larger issues, as they could impact vast swaths of the global economy, including corporate earnings.
