The energy landscape was transformed last year. First, supply disruption from the Arab Spring sent oil prices soaring - Brent crude reached over $100 a barrel. Then the Japan earthquake and subsequent tsunami led to a nuclear disaster at the Fukushima power plant which resulted in all the country's nuclear power stations closing.
