Giles Hargreave, manager of the Marlborough Special Situations fund, sees potential in online gaming companies but advises investors to spread their bets.

The US is beginning to ease restrictions on online gambling and some of the first winners are likely to be a number of smaller UK companies that are among the world leaders in internet gaming. New Jersey recently followed the lead of Delaware and Nevada in reversing a ban imposed in the US in 2006 and a number of other states are considering doing the same. This presents a lucrative new market for online gaming companies and an attractive opportunity for investors.
