Ahead of the results of the German federal election this week, Hardeep Tawakley asks fund managers how they are positioning their portfolios in the region.

German voters headed to polling stations for the first time in four years yesterday, to elect a new chancellor. If the polls are correct, Angela Merkel, the current chancellor, has retained her popularity even after eight years in power and is the favourite to win. She is expected to start what will be her third term as chancellor in the same conservative-liberal coalition that won four years ago.
