Diamonds Gold may have lost its shine for investors recently but in the West, diamonds have retained their cultural importance in life's landmark events of marriage and anniversaries. Meanwhile, the new wealthy in the East are increasingly adopting the practice of giving diamond jewellery as presents and global demand is expected to grow 5% every year until 2023, according to Bain & Co's annual sector report.
