Generating $116bn of revenue last year, the video games market is the world's largest form of entertainment and is growing by 5%-10% per annum.

The UK has a rich heritage in the sector and is home to more than 2,000 games companies, employing 18,500 people.  In recent years, the number of games companies listed on the UK stockmarket has increased. Companies range from Keywords Studios, which performs outsourcing services to games developers, to publishers of their own games, such as Frontier Developments and Codemasters. Sumo Digital and Team17 also recently listed on the market and have performed strongly since.
