Since launching in February 2007, Prudential Managed Defensive fund manager Matthew Williams has set out to prove his vehicle’s protective characteristics. Unlike many funds in the IMA Cautious Managed sector, Williams has been able to deliver a positive performance over the past 12 months, navigating well though the period of severe market volatility. The £147m fund sits second out of 129 vehicles over the year to 20 July, up 6.6% against an average 6.5% sector decline, according to Morningstar.
