Although BlackRock is one of the largest asset managers in the world, the performance of its active funds in the UK has suffered since the financial crisis and consequently it has become better known among fund buyers for its ETFs, offered through the iShares franchise. The exit of former UK star Mark Lyttleton, and the underperformance of previously popular mandates, led to a decline in the size of BlackRock’s UK equity funds.
