Popularity can be a curse as much as a blessing, as far as JO Hambro Capital Management’s Clive Beagles is concerned. The co-manager, with James Lowen, of the boutique’s soft-closed £2.7bn UK Equity Income fund has spent the last year attempting to dissuade investors from adding more to his fund. He has even publicly welcomed Neil Woodford’s new enterprise, in the hope it will divert inflows from his own fund.
