Old Mutual Global Investors chief executive Julian Ide speaks to Julia Rampen about the rapidly-growing fund house's global expansion plans, its relationship with the Old Mutual Wealth platform, and its flurry of recent hires.

Julian Ide made headlines in March 2013 when he hired Schroders' UK equities head Richard Buxton in a major coup for OMGI. Eighteen months later, following a rush of activity elsewhere in the business, the Old Mutual Global Investors chief executive is keen to play down the ‘Buxton effect'. Manager moves are far from uncommon in the fund management industry, but Buxton's appointment was seen as a statement of intent.
