Julian Ide made headlines in March 2013 when he hired Schroders' UK equities head Richard Buxton in a major coup for OMGI. Eighteen months later, following a rush of activity elsewhere in the business, the Old Mutual Global Investors chief executive is keen to play down the ‘Buxton effect'. Manager moves are far from uncommon in the fund management industry, but Buxton's appointment was seen as a statement of intent.
