The key growth drivers powering the Pictet Global Megatrend Selection fund

The $4.2bn (£2.7bn) Pictet Global Megatrend Selection fund's focus on secular growth trends certainly makes it stand out from the wider peer group, with only a 15% overlap between the portfolio and the MSCI World index.

Manager Hans Peter Portner (pictured) invests across Pictet's eight thematic equity portfolios, allocating an equal portion to each and rebalancing the fund every month to keep the weighting unchanged. The portfolios focus on four sustainability themes - water, timber, agriculture and clean energy (see chart, below) - as well as healthcare, security, digital communication and premium brands. Over the three years to 19 June, Global Megatrend Selection has returned 60.4%, versus an average of 46.9% for the offshore Equity International sector, according to FE Trustnet. How do you ide...
