Fidelity UK equities fund manager Alex Wright talks about his expectations for the oil sector, how one company has returned 400% for his Special Values trust, and where he is positioned ahead of June's Brexit referendum.
Alex Wright followed the established Fidelity route of training as an analyst before becoming a fund manager in 2008. His first command was the £386m UK Smaller Companies fund, which he has managed since launch in 2008. The manager then took over the Special Values trust in September 2012, and open-ended counterpart the Special Situations fund in January 2014 from Sanjeev Shah. Since taking over, his £2.6bn Special Situations fund has returned 8.2% to 7 May 2016, according to FE, versus 2% for the IA UK All Companies sector and 1.3% for the FTSE All Share (TR).
