In the second of our new series profiling the rising stars of the industry, Investment Week talks to Laura Foll, co-manager on the £463m Henderson UK Equity Income & Growth fund with James Henderson, and deputy manager on the £348m Lowland investment company.

Graduating during one of the deepest UK recessions for more than 50 years is a scenario in which few people would like to find themselves. But in 2009, following the completion of her degree in economic history with economics from the London School of Economics, Laura Foll, 28, found herself at the mercy of a shrinking economy and in response, applied for "any and every" financial role she saw advertised. By her own admission, there was no great masterplan to join the asset management industry. Instead, she attributes her landing at Henderson Global Investors in 2009 to "pure luck". ...
