Lawrence Gosling talks to LGIM's Dame Helena Morrissey about how the investment world can improve its image problems and what real diversity looks like for the sector.

Regardless of targets, it is also true that what is needed are solid examples of what can be achieved in the industry and Morrissey certainly represents that.

Looking back on her career, she says it is "fantastic" for anyone that wants to be judged on results "not hours at the desk" and who wants "to do something that is really varied and is never the same day twice".

"It is very much about doing something that if you do it well will enhance people's lives, not in the way that a cure for cancer would, but in a way that is also very important. And that is the bit we have not sold, or stated clearly enough.

"My ultimate goal: have a fund manager in (anyone's) list of trusted advisers."
