James Donald, head of Lazard Asset Management's emerging markets investment platform, has identified key discussion points for the team across the region, as well as areas where they are taking contrarian positions compared to peers.
Debt levels in China and US President Donald Trump's protectionist agenda were identified as key risks for investors, while opportunities were highlighted in value stocks across the financials and telecom services sectors and certain information technology names. The £1.1bn Lazard Emerging Markets fund has 55.6% of the portfolio invested in emerging Asia, 16.5% in Latin America and 15.9% in European emerging markets, according to FE as at 30 September.
