Bank of New York Mellon Asset management is launching two boutique investment businesses focusing on Australian and emerging market equities.
Ankura Capital Pty and Blackfriars Asset Management were initially bought by BNYAM from WestLB in December last year. Ankura manages around Aus$1bn in equities and Blackfriars US$2.3bn in emerging markets equities, fixed income and debt. Both companies are retaining their senior managements and BNYAM vice chairman Jon Little called expanding the business' presence in Australia and Asia was a strategic priority.
