Legal & General grew its funds under management by more than £33bn in 2008, down from an increase of almost £55bn the previous year. Retail investments were up 42% in the 12 months until 31 December to £229m from £161m in 2007. Overall new business in the UK was up 3% to a little under £1.4m. L&G group chief executive Tim Breedon says the company's sales performance had been good in a tough environment.
