Barings believes equity markets are finally displaying signs of looking beyond the current downturn, despite continued poor real economy data. It says global markets are responding to the aggressive action taken by authorities to address the economic crisis, such as the quantitative easing and toxic assets plans. The fund manager's multi-asset strategies have started to increase equity exposure, while the house remains positive on gold. Barings says its research highlights convertibles and corporate bonds as attractive, although it is cautious on the interest rate risks in the long term...
