UK stocks were up for the third day running, poising the FTSE 100 to be the best-performing equity market among the world’s largest 20 this month. After opening at 5601.2 this morning, the FTSE 100 had risen to 5642.3 at 2.55pm, leading to its first monthly gain since April. The index has risen over 2% this week and is expected to make 3.9% this month when the markets close. Energy companies were leading the rises as oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico were evacuated ahead of being hit by Hurricane Gustav. Petrofac and Ferrexpo were the biggest movers making gains of 6.52% and 5.45% today...
