Over £33bn was invested in Isas during the 2006/07 tax year, the highest ever total subscribed to Isas, according to figures from HMRC. Isas are now held by around 20m savers, representing a totally invested figure of about £300bn. Savers also displayed confidence in the stock market, investing £10.36bn in stocks and shares Isas last year, the highest investment in this component since 2002. Subscriptions to stocks and shares Isas in the final quarter fell slightly by 1% compared to the same period in 2006. However, the subscriptions for the year are 13% up on those for the 2005/06 ...
