The commodities boom has underpinned positive economic developments in Africa, according to Alexander Shalash, manager of the Julius Baer Northern Africa fund. “In recent years, the world’s hunger for commodities including Africa’s hydrocarbons, minerals and agricultural resources has accelerated the integration of the continent into the world economy,” he said.
