China will overtake the UK to be the world’s third wealthiest country by 2017, a report from Barclays Wealth has claimed. The analysis, based on the group’s Household Wealth Index, charts the spread of wealth across 50 countries to 2017. “The gap between developed and developing markets is closing,” said the report. While the US is predicted to remain at the top of the household wealth list in 2017, it said a number of emerging markets will close on it in the coming decade.
