Northern Rock’s share price rose 7% in early trading this morning on the back of reports that Citigroup plans to lend the company as much as £10bn. Shares were up 7.7% to 170.70p at 10.30am this morning. A loan from a Citigroup, at a less punitive rate than its emergency Bank of England loan, could mean that Northern Rock is able to continue trading as a separate entity
