The UK will lag behind a G7 recovery and will only start to fully recover in 2011 or later says Simon Ward. New Star's chief economist points to industrial output figures which suggest the G7 is half way through a decline. Ward predicts the G7 will see a substantial number of big stock market falls in the next few months into Q1 2009, but may see a partial recovery later in the year.
