Morning Markets: FTSE positive after solid Wall St trading

The FTSE 100 has opened on a positive note this morning after strong performance in the US yesterday.

The London index was up 4.71 points (0.11%) to 4206.84 points by 8:30, led by miners which are recovering ground after poor performance yesterday. Fresnillo leads the pack with a gain of 4.68% so far this morning taking its share price to £4.92. Lonmin is a close second with a gain of 4.26% to £10.27 while Xstrata, Rangold Resources and Rio Tinto have also added over 3% each so far this morning. In the US, investors, upbeat on the raft of results due out this week, pushed the Dow Jones up185.16 points (2.27%) to 8331.68 points by close of play yesterday. Sentiment was also helpe...
