The growing number of China funds being launched warrants the introduction of a new IMA sector for the country, managers believe.
The IMA Asia Pacific ex Japan sector now has 11 funds focused on the Chinese equity market, with another four introduced to the Specialist sector this month following the IMA’s decision to add up to 180 offshore funds to its listings. With more offshore funds being added throughout the year and new vehicles being launched as China’s economy grows ever-larger, managers believe there is now sufficient demand for a separate sector.
